Used Micromass Quattro Micro Mass Spectrometer
A used fully serviced and refurbished Micromass Quattro Micro including installation and training (*excludes MS Workstation and Alliance HPLC - both available at additional costs).
The Micromass Quattro micro API is a step change advance over the classic "triple quadropole" concept. The traditional quadropole collision cell is replaced with a hexapole for advance ion containment and transmission. Hexapole technology used in conjunction with proprietary ion counting and threshold software, delivers superior sensitivity and enhanced resolution for precursor ion scanning experiments.
The high performance analyser is completed with an optically coupled, low noise/high gain orthologonal detector that approaches 100% efficiency for the detection of single ions. In this proprietary system the conventional electron multiplier has been suspended by a photomultiplier with a 10 year lifetime - simultaneously maximising sensitivity and minimising the cost of ownership.
The Astmospheric Pressure Ionisation (API) source features patented Z-SPRAY inlet technology for LC-MS-MS. The dual orthoganol geometry of ZSPRAY enables prolonged LC-MS-MS anaylsis of samples in complex biological or environmental matrices. ZSPRAY can even tolerate involatile buffers - saving time and money in HPLC method redevelopment. ZSPRAY is the only API interface available with an in-source isolation valve allowing the sampling cone to be rapidly removed for routine cleaning without breaking the vacuum - maximising up time. The inlet probe is mounted vertically for maximum space saving.

Compound identity confirmation can be achieved with MS/MS using this instrument in ion scan mode. With this mode, product ions are generated and detected for a specified precursor ion. The precursor and product ions, along with their ion ratios, can be used to confirm the identity of a compound.
Specific classes of compounds can be detected with MS/MS using the precursor ion or neutral loss mode. By detecting a specific product ion (precursor ion mode) or charged fragments resulting from a neutral loss (neutral loss mode), you can classify a compound of interest. These modes are helpful for monitoring classes of compounds like glycosylated peptides, glucuronide conjugates and aliphatic hydrocarbons.
The Quattro micro API Mass Analyzer
Using a tandem quadrupole mass analyzer with a hexapole collision cell, the Quattro micro API provides molecular weight, structural information, and quantitative data for a wide variety of analytes. Powerful and intelligent data acquisition allows you to collect the additional information required for your application.
Automated analysis of complex samples is enabled using Data Directed Analysis (DDA). In automated LC-DDA-MS analyses, the Quattro micro API Mass Analyzer continuously records “survey” (typically MS) spectra throughout a chromatographic run to dynamically identify candidates for MS/MS analysis. Ions shortlisted for MS/MS analysis can be compared with a list of known background ions (such as phthalates) to exclude redundant analyses. When a component of interest elutes, the analyzer switches from MS to MS/MS mode. Simultaneously, the system selects collision energy values for each targeted precursor ion and records a product ion spectrum. After the MS/MS analysis is completed, the system returns to the selected survey mode to hunt for the next candidate. The most commonly used survey mode is the full scan MS. Precursor ions that have been selected and analyzed may be dynamically appended to the exclusion list to prevent duplicate analyses.
